What A Fiestas Patrias Celebration!

What a celebration we had this morning at FRC Lima for Fiestas Patrias!

Carmen did an awesome job entertaining us with the special Peruvian songs she prepared. Roger was fantastic on the cajon. The crowd was really into it as we celebrated Peru's 186th anniversary of independence!

And then the feast afterward! Wow! Ay caramba! Over 30 plates of delicious Peruvian food! Que rico! There was causa, aji de gallina, anticuchos, tamales, solterito, arroz blanco, arroz chaufa, sopa de mote, patasca, escabeche, papas huancaina, frijoles, lomo saltado, mazamora, arroz con leche, alfajores, and of course Inca Kola to wash it all down! A huge "THANK YOU!" to everyone who brought plates this morning, and also a special "THANK YOU!" to Xenia, who did a fantastic job directing everyone and everything. We're definitely going to do this again real soon! Happy Fiestas Patrias! Viva Peru!

1,040 people have now watched our beach baptism on YouTube!

We are really excited about the news. 1,040 people have been impacted by the beach baptism we did back on March 31, 2007, at Playa Santa Maria, just south of Lima. I know that God is smiling and the angels are cheering every time that someone clicks on YouTube, watches the beach baptism, sees the 11 people get baptized, hears their testimonies afterward, and is impacted by it. It's awesome how God is using modern technology (YouTube) to spread His message across the globe. We're praying for each and every one of the 1,040 people who have watched the beach baptism so far - and for the 1,000s more who'll be watching it soon!

If you haven't checked out our beach baptism yet, then go to www.youtube.com, search for "flamingo road church", and there you'll find it! Check it out, show it to your friends, and join the 1,040 who've already watched it!

Patience

The Rolling Stones sang, "Time is on my side, yes it is." The Byrds crooned, "To everything (turn, turn, turn), there is a season (turn, turn, turn), and a time for every purpose under heaven."

Have we gone back in a haze to the '60s? No! It's just that this Sunday at FRC Lima we're going to be learning about the secret to patience, and patience involves pausing and waiting and dealing with the passage of time. Most people aren't good at being patient, not in this fast food, high speed, instant text messaging, i-Phone world. Most people want everything NOW! But God may make you wait for things, just to teach you patience and build you spiritually. Come this Sunday and find out more about the secret to patience, and how God can arrange it so that time really is on your side.

The Secret To God's Favor

This Sunday at Flamingo Road Church in Lima we are continuing our new series called "The Secret - A Study of James." This Sunday we will be learning about the secret to God's favor. We all want to receive God's favor. We wouldn't be at FRC unless we wanted to receive it. But too often in life we do things that deny us God's favor, and deny us God's best for our lives. This Sunday we'll learn what to do, and just as importantly what not to do, if we want to receive God's favor in our lives. It's a very important teaching, and will lead to more of God's blessings in our lives. Be sure to come, and invite your friends and family to come, too!

Pastor Troy in Lima

It has been an awesome time with Pastor Troy and his family in Lima this week! The Sunday morning service at FRC Lima was incredible. The cinema was jam-packed, the music was fantastic, the enrgy in the room was sky-high, and Troy's message on relationships touched many, many hearts. On Monday we went to Pachacutec with Troy and his family, along with Pastor Allen and Pastor Raul, and fed 400 people. On Tuesday we visited the orphanage in La Victoria, fed about 50 of our young friends there, and then took them all to see Shrek 3 at the cinema! It's been an awesome week, and Troy and I are going to be spending the rest of this week dreaming and planning about his upcoming trips back to Lima, and how best to use them to help all of us here in Peru reach our God-potential.

Iquitos, Lima, and Pastor Troy!

We had a great time in Iquitos with Pastor Troy, Stephanie, Tyler, Carson, and Baylee! We visited Quistococha, the Yaguas, the Boras, and a "serpentario", where the brave ones in the group held a 12-foot-long anaconda on their shoulders. It was an awesome trip. It's always a treat to visit the jungle, and now we are seeking God's guidance in how to further FRC's ministry there, and how to help people in Iquitos and also the thousands of tribespeople on the Amazon River reach their God-potential.

We're back in Lima now, and we can't wait for Sunday, when Troy will be teaching LIVE at FRC Lima! It's going to be an AWESOME time, so be sure to come on Sunday morning, and bring your family and friends!

Pastor Troy Arrives In Lima!

Tonight is the night that Pastor Troy arrives in Lima with his family!

We're going to be at the airport to meet them, and it's going to be really exciting to see Troy, Stephanie, Tyler, Carson, and Baylee. Tomorrow we go to Iquitos with them, and it's going to be a great trip! We'll be visiting the Yaguas and the Boras (two native tribes that live on the Amazon River) and doing a bunch of other cool things in the jungle.

Be sure to come to the cinema next Sunday morning, July 8, at 10:00 AM to hear Pastor Troy preach - LIVE in Lima! It's been a blast to learn from his video teaching each week, but now we have the opportunity to hear him live, and that's going to be a very special treat at FRC Lima. Make sure that you are at the cinema next Sunday morning to see and hear Pastor Troy. Bring your camera, and invite your family and friends!
