Roses

It was awesome to see all of the people accepting red, long-stemmed roses yesterday after the service at Flamingo Road Church, as a symbol of God's healing in the midst of our screwed up lives and broken relationships.

God can heal your broken relationship, and God can lift you up again after you screw up and fall, if you just let Him do it.

Ambassadors

Last night Dorcas and I attended a concert at the mansion in Lima where the US Ambassador lives. The Ambassador's mansion is an enormous place, with lots of fences and security, and beautiful grounds and fountains all around it. It's a very impressive place to see and to visit.

It reminded me of the verse in 2 Corinthians 5:20, where Paul says, "We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us."

The US Ambassador represents the United States in Peru. As Christians, we represent Jesus Christ on this earth. By the lives we live and our testimonies to others, we must show ourselves to be worthy representatives of Jesus Christ in this world. We are his ambassadors. God is speaking to this world through you and through me. We must be up to the job!

IveScrewedUp.Com

This Sunday morning at 10:00 AM at Flamingo Road Church at Cineplanet Alcazar in Ovalo Gutierrez, we begin an exciting new video teaching series with Pastor Troy called IveScrewedUp.com. We've already previewed the first teaching, and it's fantastic.

We've all screwed up in our lives. We've all made monumental mistakes. We've all committed egregious errors. We've all committed serious sins. No one is exempt from it. This past Monday at Virginia Tech, a very troubled and evil young man screwed up in a horrifying way, and 32 people were killed as a result. Screwing up sometimes can have life-altering and/or life-ending consequences, for you and for others. Just ask Samson.

This weekend Pastor Troy will teach on what we need to do to avoid screwing up. How do we avoid screwing up? The answer lies in our ears, our skin, our legs, and our mouth. Be sure to come to the cinema this Sunday at 10:00 AM to learn more about what we need to do to avoid screwing up.

Virginia Tech Tragedy

Please pray for the families of the victims of the terrible tragedy at Virginia Tech, that they will receive the peace of God in the midst of such a horrible event. Please pray for the family of Daniel Perez Cueva, the Peruvian student who was killed. Please also pray for Christian Rosas, my brother-in-law and the brother of Dorcas, who is studying at Liberty University, just an hour away from Virginia Tech, and very close to where the tragedy occurred.

Psalm 18:6 - "In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears."

Psalm 62:8 - "Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge."

222!

God truly blessed us on Easter weekend! We had great turnouts on Friday night at Hotel Las Palmeras, and on Saturday night at Hotel Las Palmeras, and especially on Sunday morning at the cinema, plus we had a whole lot of pre-schoolers and children on Sunday morning, too, and our total combined attendance in Lima for all three services was 222! That is the biggest crowd we've ever had, and we praise God for it!

We all know that most people leave Lima during Holy Week to go to the beach or to go camping, since it's the last weekend of the summer. We all saw how empty the city was - like a ghost town! Only about 10% of the combis were even running. All of this easily could have led to an extremely low turnout on Easter weekend, but our God is a great God, and He convinced a whole lot of people to attend Flamingo Road Church instead of going to the beach or going camping.

I want to say a special thanks to all of the volunteers who made Easter weekend a huge success. Rocio, Ofelia, Flavio, and Luis are always faithful as ushers and greeters. Mariana is great with the children and pre-schoolers. Emerson is great - everywhere! Alfredo and Eva are the tech experts that make it all look great. Ivan does a fantastic job with the audio. The singers - Dorcas, Norma, Sylvia, Gianina, and David - were all awesome in getting the crowd energized and in a great worship mood. And Josue and the musicians - Angel, Caleb, Gerald, and Kevin - were 5 stars! Flamingo Road Church would not be growing the way that it is in Lima without our fantastic team of volunteers every week. We couldn't do it without you!

We have posted the beach baptism video on YouTube. Go to www.youtube.com, and as a search use the words "beach baptism" or "flamingo road church." You'll find the video at either location. The video looks great, and it's a great way to show your friends and family some of the cool things that God is doing - using you and me! - here in Peru. Be sure to check it out!

Don't forget to keep inviting more friends, family, relatives and neighbors to Hotel Las Palmeras on Friday night and Saturday night at 7:00 PM, and also to Cineplanet Alcazar on Easter Sunday morning at 10:00 AM! We know that they - and you! - are going to have an unforgettable Easter weekend!

What A Beach Baptism!

What a beach baptism we had on Saturday!

If you were there, then you know how awesome it was. 11 people were baptized, and about 60 folks from FRC Lima were there to cheer them on. It was a beautiful day - blue skies, bright sun, hot sand, great waves - and we truly had a God-blessed environment for the beach baptism.

We'll probably do another beach baptism sometime toward the end of the year, so if you missed this one, make sure to be there for the next one! A beach baptism is an unforgettable experience, and it's a day you will never forget!
